Let your light shine before people, so that they will see the good things you do and praise your Father in heaven. (Matthew 5:16)

Our vision

So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you. (Matthew7:12)

Our vision at Bidston Village C.E Primary School is to guide our children to develop their God-given gifts to the full and live fulfilling lives, rooted in the values taught by Jesus; based on the Gospel value of love for one another.

‘Join together to support and encourage one another to promote love and good works’ Hebrews 10:24

Our Mission Statement

Wise people are always learning. Wise people always want to listen. (Proverbs 18:15)

Our mission is to work in partnership within a welcoming, caring, inclusive Christian community, where everyone feels valued, respected, safe and happy.

As a church school, our work is underpinned by the Christian values of love, respect, trust, forgiveness, friendship, honesty and perseverance.

We will provide a rich and varied curriculum which reflects God’s love for the whole child: promoting spiritual, moral, cultural, physical and emotional wellbeing alongside independence and academic success.

We will show love to all children who are part of the Bidston Village family, helping them to develop self-confidence, tolerance, respect for themselves and others and to become the best that they can be, remembering our golden rule:

Treat other people the way you expect to be treated’

Our aims

In order to prepare today’s children for tomorrow’s challenges, at Bidston Village CE Primary School, we strive to be an inclusive school where:

  • Every member of our school family feels valued, respected, safe and happy

  • Staff members are approachable, nurturing and dedicated to providing the best possible education for our children

  • Trusting relationships between staff and children ensure that children feel able to communicate positively and openly.

  • Every child will value themselves as a unique individual with special qualities and strengths, developing self–discipline and honesty, taking responsibility for their own actions and appreciating their ability to make a positive difference in the world.

  • Every child will appreciate and respect others, celebrate differences between individuals and groups and respect and care for God’s creation and the environment.

  • Every child will be encouraged to understand the meaning and significance of faith, experience God’s love and develop the spirituality to enable them to live out our Christian values of thankfulness, truthfulness, respect, trust, friendship, perseverance, courage and love.

  • Every child will achieve their full potential through being a highly motivated, resilient and independent learner who embraces new experiences, has confidence to tackle challenges and go on to develop a lifelong passion for learning which will successfully lead them into secondary school and beyond.

  • Every child will be encouraged to make healthy choices and appreciate the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.

  • Family engagement is prioritised in order to promote good attendance and to provide advice, support and information for a range of issues affecting children and families within the local community.

  • There are positive partnerships and mutual respect with all stakeholders; parents, governors, church and the community.

Christian values

Our Christian values, which come from the life and teaching of Jesus, underpin every aspect of school life at Bidston Village CE Primary School. We aim to model and promote these values in all that we do.

These values are: LOVE, RESPECT, TRUST, FORGIVENESS, THANKFULNESS, FRIENDSHIP, HONESTY, PERSEVERANCE.

We believe that the greatest of these values is LOVE - “There is no greater commandment” (Mark 12:31)

Love

Love is simply putting others before ourselves. Love is not only something you feel, it is something you do.

Let all that you do be done in love. (1 Corinthians 16:14)

Respect

Respect means that you accept somebody for who they are, even when they are different from you or you don’t agree with them. You should treat others the way you want to be treated yourself.

So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you. (Matthew 7:12)

Trust

Trust is to have confidence, faith or hope in someone or something.

When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust: I shall not be afraid. (Psalm 56:3-4)

Forgiveness

Forgiving doesn’t mean forgetting or excusing offences, it allows us to move on without anger or seeking revenge.

Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. (Ephesians 4:32)

Thankfulness

The feeling of being happy or grateful because of something or someone.

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. (Psalm 106:1)

Friendship

Friendship means enjoying being together. People who are friends talk to each other, they trust one another and help each other when they are in trouble or are hurt.

My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. (John 15:12-13)

Honesty

Honesty is when you speak the truth and act truthfully.

Then you will know the truth. And the truth will set you free. (John 8:32)

Perseverence

Perseverance means that when you are facing a challenge, you use your mind and your body to overcome it.

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. (Galatians 6:9)

We have used these Christian values as a basis for developing our school behaviour charters with the children. These contain key principles for behaviour that we expect everyone to adhere to. Above all, we expect all stakeholders (staff, children, parents and visitors) to uphold our golden rule!

'Treat other people the way you expect to be treated'

Alongside the Christian values, at Bidston Village, we actively promote British values through the curriculum, teaching and worship.
