At Bidston Village we are supported within school by our own outreach teaching team Dr Heather Henderson. Dr Henderson supports the learning of children with literacy difficulties / Spld on an individual basis.

Laura Bithell is a specialist literacy teacher who comes to school every Tuesday morning to work with individuals and small groups of children who need extra support with the basic literacy skills and spelling. Work packs are provided for the children to use both in class and at home. Lots of over learning has proven to be effective in supporting the children’s progress.

We use an App called AFIT (Assessment for Inclusion Tool) which is an evidence-based assessment tool that helps identify any underlying needs that may impact a pupil's challenging behaviour or performance. It provides tried and tested successful strategies to enable a pupil to settle to learn.

Children's progress is monitored and reviewed on a regular basis through the use of a strengths and difficulties questionnaire (SDQ). This then informs teachers of how to support a child's specific needs more effectively.  Reach 2 Teach (Inclusion App)
